HEC Paris Professor Olivier Chatain appointed Associate Editor of the SMJ
The Strategic Management Journal (SMJ) has named HEC Paris Professor Olivier Chatain as its new Associate Editor. The lecturer in Strategy and Business Policy will hold a leading role within the publication, currently the world’s leading mass impact journal for research in strategic management.
Part of Chatain’s role is to help select papers to be included in the Journal. The SMJ publishes papers that are selected through a rigorous double-blind review process. The SMJ publishes research designed to appeal to strategy scholars, with implications within and across papers that are relevant for practicing managers. The SMJ uses an extremely rigorous selection process to choose which papers feature in its publication, employing a double-blind review process.
Chatain brings to the role his experience at HEC Paris, where he teaches competitive strategy to MBA, MSc and PhD students. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Mack Institute for Innovation Management at the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania), and an editorial review board member for Strategy Science. His dissertation received AOM's Business Policy and Strategy division Outstanding Dissertation Award.
The professor’s research focuses on the formal and value-based foundations of strategy with specific applications to buyer-supplier relationships and markets for strategic resources. His latest publication examines how human-capital-intensive firms deploy their human assets and how firm-specific human capital interacts with incentives to influence this deployment. His research has been published in the Academy of Management Review , Management Science and the Strategic Management Journal .
Prior to joining HEC Paris, Olivier served on the faculty at Wharton. He holds a diploma from ESSEC, an MSc from the University of Paris I-Panthéon Sorbonne, as well as an MSc and PhD from INSEAD.
